The Bramblethorns of Chetwood are linked by blood, marriage or oath to Marigold Bramblethorn, the matron that four generations ago laid the foundations of the now decrepit Bramblethorn farm. The family's adventuring members are Gull, a travelling salesman in dyes and song, his recently returned (and fiercly independant) wife Eorie, Isenwyn, their warrior daughter trained in the ways of Rohan and Oakshott, Gulls nephew and friend of rangers (much to Gulls dislike). The familys ancient protector is the man-friend Sathrendil, sometimes accompanied by the fair Minwen. Tales in the Breeland say Marigold wooed Sathrendil, but his elven heart was unmoved and she withered away in sorrow. To atone for this Sathrendil has forsaken the immortal lands to help the men of the Breeland. Gull is known not to like dwarves and expects his family to shun the bearded folk. |
